Archival Gems and Sophisticated Scores: Apple TV+'s Palm Royale FYC Event

Apple TV+’s Palm Royale is a snarky period comedy which pokes fun at the elite sophisticates of 1960s Palm Beach, Florida. The main character Maxine Dellacourte-Simmons (played by Kristen Wiig) is a fish-out-of-water among members of the Palm Royale Country Club (Allison Janney, Carol Burnett, Laura Dern, Leslie Bibb) and desperately tries to make her mark in this exclusive circle of influencers.

The music plays a leading role in telling this story and captures the sounds of the era with a sophisticated wink. Music Supervisor George Drakoulias and composer Jeff Toyne carefully craft this world with slick bossa nova, beloved crooners like Frank Sinatra, mysterious big band exotica, and slow candle-lit jazz ballads.

George Drakoulias and Jeff Toyne hosted an FYC (for your consideration) event at Evergreen Studios in Burbank on June 4th. This event featured a live performance of selections from the score and libations that mimic the 1960s cocktails from the show like grasshoppers and lime rickeys. Although Laura Dern and Kristen Wiig were unable to attend, they sent in video clips which showed their adoration for the series-defining music.

APM Music had a whopping 32 needle drops in season 1! This playlist of tracks featured in the show includes compositions by Les Baxter, Syd Dale, and Keith Mansfield. It is the perfect cool and loungey soundtrack for throwing back some grasshopper cocktails poolside.
